Position: Surveillance Operator / Toll Operations Specialist

Schedule:

• 3 Shifts: 9:00 PM – 5:30 AM 9:30 AM – 6:00 AM 10:00 PM – 6:30 AM

• 4 Days of the week: Either: Wed/Thu/Fri/Sat/Sun or Thu/Fri/Sat/Sun/Mon

• Shifts will be scheduled based on business needs

Pay: $20 – $23 per hour DOE

Job Overview

The Toll Operations Specialist is part of a seven-member team providing 24/7 monitoring of the South Bay Expressway. Responsibilities include overseeing traffic flow roadway safety and toll revenue collection.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor multiple video displays to assess toll road traffic safety and security.

• Identify incidents such as accidents or debris and coordinate emergency response.

• Communicate with Caltrans CHP and local agencies regarding freeway incidents.

• Follow established protocols to respond to roadway events and assist field staff.

• Use computer systems to track and report operational issues.

• Provide remote support to customers using toll payment equipment.

• Assist toll attendants with shift transitions and operational tasks.

• Handle cash transactions audits and revenue collection processes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Two years of experience in transportation operations public safety cash handling or customer service.

• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

• Experience with computer-aided dispatch or emergency response systems is a plus.

• Ability to monitor multiple displays and relay information accurately.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Windows-based systems.
